Fibonaccians 2007-08
(4th - 6th grade)
We meet from 1:00 - 3:00pm on *approximately* the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from Sept through early May, at the Sculley Academy. Please check the calendar below for the exact dates! A typical week at math club involves learning a mathematical concept, practicing past contest problems, snack / recess break, and free time to pursue math-related games / manipulatives. Students work individually and in teams during each class. Homework is assigned each time, and hints will be available approximately a week before the next club meeting.
There are several competitions that we will be participating in this year. I chose each of these for their various merits. Some emphasize individual achievement; some emphasize team achievement. Everyone will participate in the Math Olympiads; I will invite students on an individual basis to participate in other competitions. Every student will receive recognition at the end of the year, at an awards ceremony.
