Mom Tiller 1991 (May)

We were devastated by the untimely loss of my mother, Alice Marie Muriel Johnson Tiller, on the morning of May 2nd, 1991. That day is etched in our memories but was way too painful to write about at the time. (I hope to add details and photos here in the near future.)

(more details about the weeks leading up to her death; song; reading and discussing the Bible together; Callaway Gardens)

Paul was at work; our friend Rob was visiting us from Australia. Dad & Mom had returned from an extended motor home trip 3 weeks before (it was parked in our driveway). I was 2 months pregnant with Peter.

(shopping at Walmart, Wolf Camera where Sharon worked; extreme nausea hit at the moment my mom died)
(Rob & I came home to a seemingly empty house; Dad had gone over to Harold’s to let someone in to do some home repairs)
(Dad returned home; we all searched – Rob found her)
(ambulance / fire truck / police all arrived at once with super loud sirens; in complete shock, interviewed by police; Harold arrived; Paul arrived; Johnny arrived – took us to Spiced Right for lunch then sat with Anne on their back deck – they prayed for us; Libby arrived – hug, prayer; Hildegard and Sharon arrived; Jeff & Wayne dismantled the shed; Jeff prayed for me regarding fear of generational curse / death)
(vision as I was getting into bed with mom & my baby, heard sound of heavenly choir with mom singing)
(funeral – Linda & Tamara sang song I wrote)
(neighbors and friends and extended family provided a lot of food and flowers, especially Lilies which I now always associate with her passing)
(Dad, Eugene, Ellissa, and I visited, we kids were able to remember happy memories together)

(my former workmates at GE gave us a flowering cherry tree, which we planted on the place where mom died. It took me 5 years to be able to go to that part of the yard, as God slowly healed my heart. Later we planted another flowering cherry in the front yard, and later in the front yard of our new home)
