Come

July 3rd, 2022 – Communion Meditation

As I pondered today’s communion meditation, I heard the Lord breathe a single word to me – “come.” Hear Christ Jesus’ invitation to us today, to come. Come to Jesus. Listen to His invitation to you as I read some short Scriptures from the four Gospels and the book of Revelation in which Jesus invites us to come.

Matthew 4:19 – “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!

Matthew 9:9 – “Come along with me.

Matthew 11:28 – “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.

Matthew 14:29 – “Come.

Matthew 19:21 – “‘If you want to give it all you’ve got,’ Jesus replied, ‘go sell your possessions; give everything to the poor. All your wealth will then be in heaven. Then come follow me.’

Matthew 22:4 – “Come to the feast!

Mark 6:31 – “Come off by yourselves; let’s take a break and get a little rest.

Mark 8:34-35 – “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how.

Luke 14:17 – “Come on in; the food’s on the table.

Luke 18:22 – “Come, follow me

John 1:39 – “Come along and see for yourself.

John 6:35-37 – “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

John 7:37-38 – “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.

Revelation 15:4 – “Mighty your acts and marvelous, O God, the Sovereign-Strong! Righteous your ways and true, King of the nations! Who can fail to fear you, God, give glory to your Name? Because you and you only are holy, all nations will come and worship you, because they see your judgments are right.

Revelation 22:17 – “‘Come!’ say the Spirit and the Bride. Whoever hears, echo, ‘Come!’ Is anyone thirsty? Come! All who will, come and drink, drink freely of the Water of Life!

On the night that Jesus was betrayed, He took the bread and said, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” (eat)

Again, Jesus took the cup and said, “This is my blood of the new covenant poured out for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” (drink)
