Gratitude (thank you, twenty one pilots!)

As I’ve been browsing news and social media recently, I’ve noticed that some of what bothers me the most is a lack of gratitude, an increase in complaining, and people lashing out at one another instead of working together to build community. So this song is birthed out of my heart to encourage people to use words wisely, practice gratitude and thankfulness, overlook or forgive offenses, speak words of life, wake up, love well! Thank you, twenty one pilots, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Stressed Out” (twenty one pilots)

Words by me: Thankful I’ve found some lovely songs that some have never heard. Thankful to have a normal voice to sing some brand new words. Thankful I found some chords that give my heart a little twang. Thankful I get to make it rhyme every time I sang. We were told when we got older our thoughts would pop out. Yes, what we spend time thinking of will come out of our mouth. My name’s Gratitude, and I want you to thank. My name’s Gratitude, and I want you to thank. We can’t just turn back time, to the “good ol’ days,” but we can say and send heartfelt thank yous when we’re locked down. No need to turn back time, to the “good ol’ days,” ’cause we got today to count our blessings when we’re locked down. Gratitude! Sometimes a certain phrase will make us want to rant and rave. It would be so much better if we ignored it or forgave. Sometimes other people just don’t know that they are causing pain. We could break the cycle, stop the hate, give words of life again. We are sisters and brothers, ’cause we are much the same. Disparities can make us fight and spite and spit and hit and blame and shame. But it’d be so much better to focus on stuff that really matters. Life’s too short to whine or whinge. Thankfulness is better! My-my name’s Gratitude, and I want you to thank. Stop this ugly bickering, calling others names. We could build community instead and give some joy away. Could stop tearing down opponents, and use love and common sense. Come on, “Wake up, and use our words wisely” Yeah! (x2) We can’t just turn back time, to the “good ol’ days,” but we can say and send heartfelt thank yous when we’re locked down. No need to turn back time, to the “good ol’ days,” ’cause we got today to count our blessings when we’re locked down. Gratitude is cool, gratitude is cool, bunny. Gratitude is cool. Wake up! Use words wisely! Gratitude is cool, gratitude is cool, bunny. Yeah, gratitude is cool. Wake up! Use words wisely! Gratitude is cool, do the little that we can with great love, build community, and give some joy away. Gratitude is cool. We’ve only got today to live. Love well, wake up, use words wisely! Yo!
