How does Jesus’ resurrection change my life? (Easter 2022 panel)

How does the resurrection change how I live my life in the here and now? What does Jesus’ resurrection have to do with us when we die?

Jesus’ death and resurrection gives us the starting point to be able to live the flourishing life that God intended for each one of us to live.

I want to answer this question by referring to Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Christian community, who is known for saying “Go, set the world on fire” and whose guiding principle was “Ad majoram Dei gloriam” which means “for the greater glory of God.” Ignatius expanded this principle with these wise words: “The goal of our life is to live with God forever. God, who loves us, gave us life. Our own response of love allows God’s life to flow into us without limit. All the things in this world are gifts from God, presented to us so that we can know God more easily and make a return of love more readily . . . We should not fix our desires on health or sickness, wealth or poverty, success or failure, a long life or a short one. For everything has the potential of calling forth in us a deeper response to our life in God. Our only desire and our one choice should be this: I want and I choose what better leads to God’s deepening his life in me.
