Let’s Go For a Stroll (thank you, Fitz and the Tantrums!)

For me, going for a walk is energizing and a huge stress reliever, especially a brisk uphill one that gets my heart working harder and forces me to take deeper breaths and just sweat. Walking is enjoyable for so many reasons – it’s outdoors (nature is healing and soothing to my soul); I almost always walk with Paul (in the past I have had other walking buddies, too – talking with someone enables me to walk much further than I would be motivated to do on my own); it’s a great time to pour my heart out to God in prayer; did I mention that it relieves stress (?!); it just feels good to take a good walk (hello, oxytocin). This video is also a precious walk down memory lane with some beloved photos from the Camino de Santiago (Frances route) in 2016 – an incredibly life-changing and enriching experience – at once the most difficult and one of the most beautiful times of physical and emotional and spiritual transformation (much healing comes as God’s light shines through our brokenness)! I shared a 460km walking journey with my daughter Cascade (who walked over 800km on that first of her several Caminos), 110km of that also with my daughters Karis and Esther. Paul and I had planned to walk the Camino earlier this year and hold hope in our hearts that we will be able to do so as soon as the opportunity arises! Buen Camino! Thank you, Fitz and the Tantrums, for your great music! May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “The Walker” (Fitz and the Tantrums)

Words by me: Stir-crazy’s how I feel inside me when I haven’t gone for a walk ’cause 3.1 miles per hour, baby, is how fast that I like to go. It’s so steep going uphill, but I’ll keep trying, not quick on the inclined slopes. Let’s walk till the soles of our feet are numb, our toes, they go, we go. Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah! Oh, here we go! Let’s go for a stroll! (really need it, need it) So, go, gotta leave now all this rigmarole. (really need it, need it) I look up to see pretty cloud sunsets. “Wow!” I exclaim, to the uttermost. They say I’m a walking dreamer, baby. If I stop, I’d be going too slow. (really need it, need it) Hey, here we go! Let’s go for a stroll! (really need it, need it) So, go, gotta leave now all this rigmarole. (really need it, need it) Everybody walk! Everybody walk! Everybody walk, walk, walk, walk, walk! Oh, here we go! Let’s go for a stroll! (really need it, need it) So, go, gotta leave now all this rigmarole. (really need it, need it) Oh, here we go! Let’s go for a stroll! (really need it, need it) So, go, gotta leave now all this rigmarole. (really need it, need it)
