Priorities 2020

Here we are at the start of another new year – Happy New Year! Instead of making New Year’s resolutions (which I haven’t actually ever done, as far as I can remember), I brainstormed an alphabetical list of priorities. Of course there are many others that could be on this list, but anyways, here are some thoughts for the coming year. I’d personally love to take baby steps in each of these, making each one a priority in my life this coming year. I hope this encourages you, too, in your life journey. It’s in the ordinary, everyday kinds of things that we mature and grow into the likeness of Christ, as we make one small choice after another to do what brings Him the most glory. He is the One who loves us best . . . let’s do what we can to love Him and follow Him with all that we are!

A … Almighty God
B … Bible (God’s revealed word to humanity, through which we know who He is, what He’s like, and His will for us in faith and practice.)
C … creation (get outside more!)
D … diet (moderation in all things)
E … exercise (we love to walk!)
F … faithfully funnel finances (be grateful in sharing, diligent in saving, wise in spending)
G … give generously (we can’t help everyone, but we can do something for someone!)
H … help others
I … initiate integrity and interconnection
J … journal, either privately or by sharing with someone
K … kindle kindness
L … lengthen lifelong learning
M … make and marvel at magnanimous music
N … notice those who are last, lost, least, left out, or lonely
O … open heart, open mind, open arms
P … prepare, plan, ponder
Q … question things with reason, research, reality, resourcefulness, and responsibility
R … reflect and rest
S … streamline
T … try to tackle something tough or thorny
U … unlearn bad habits, uproot false beliefs
V … visit someone in need
W … waken and whet wonder
X … x-plore x-otic, x-traordinary, x-citing, x-emplary, x-cellent x-periences, x-cursions and x-hibitions 🙂
Y … yearn for more of Christ Jesus and His Kingdom
Z … zero in on God and His highest and best for others and for myself

Ephesians 1:18-21 (The Message) – “I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength! All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything.
