Somebody That I Do Still Know (thank you, Gotye!)

It’s challenging keeping close relationships close via a screen when in-person visits are still not yet possible or wise . . . fewer body language clues, the awkwardness we can experience in talking to a screen, technical difficulties. After messaging or even video chats, we can experience a mixture of emotions because those are good but not as fully satisfying as getting together in the same location. But our family and friends are still somebodies that we do still know, and we are still somebody that our family and friends do still know! Let’s reach out and check on loved ones, especially the ones we may not be hearing from as regularly as we did before COVID-19. Relationships are worth it! Thank you, Gotye, for your great music! May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Somebody that I used to know” (Gotye)

Words by me: Now and then I think of when we got together, like when we actually hung out, you and I. We had fun – we were in harmony. I felt so happy in your company, but that was then, and it’s a joy I still remember. We won’t get addicted to these online kinds of meetings. Our conversations are great but don’t satisfy. We soon found online chats are not verbose. Well, I’m glad that we can still be close, but I admit that I’ll be glad when COVID’s over. Our web connection’s cut us off. Strange that it can even happen, but we try for something. We value our relationships which we don’t dare endanger ’cause they’re worth so much. Now, we always try to say hello, gather friends together online then have a group chat. I’m certain that I need you though. You are still somebody that I do still know. You are still somebody that I do still know You are still somebody that I do still know Now and then I think of times we rendezvoused together at our place or your place or another, somewhere to hang out. I just wanna live today, learning how to catch up other ways. We’re not incommunicado. We just haven’t caught up fully with somebody that we do still know. Our web connection’s cut us off. Strange that it can even happen, but we try for something. We value our relationships which we don’t dare endanger ’cause they’re worth so much. Now, we always try to say hello, gather friends together online then have a group chat. I’m certain I still need you though. You are still somebody that I do still know, somebody I do still know. You are still somebody that I do still know, somebody I do still know. You are still somebody that I do still know, I do still know, that I do still know, I do still know, somebody that I do still know.
