What is causing you to weep? Who are you seeking?

April 11th, 2021 – Communion Meditation

John 20:15 – after His resurrection, before His disciples realized He had in fact risen from the dead, Jesus asked a woman, Mary Magdalene, “why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” We can ponder these same questions today. What is causing us to weep in this season? Whom are we seeking today?

Where were the other disciples? Jesus revealed to Mary that his Resurrection is news to be shared, and not clung to as protection against a threatening world. In obedience to Jesus, Mary went and told the disciples what Jesus had said to her. We can consider today – how are we being invited to convey to others that “we have seen the Lord”?

On the night that Jesus was betrayed, He took the bread and said, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Again, Jesus took the cup and said, “This is my blood of the new covenant poured out for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
