There’s a Fly on Me (thank you, Blue Swede!)

It’s summertime where I live, and summer means more flies (though thankfully not as large or aggressive as are found in some of the places I’ve lived!) . . . hope you enjoy this lighthearted look at our interactions with the million or so species of dipterans that abound. (Also, God bless the Queen!) Thank you, Blue Swede, for your great music! May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!
Music: “Hooked on a Feeling” (Blue Swede)
Words by me: I can’t stop this feeling deep inside of me. Flies, they just don’t realize what they do to me. When they walk on my arm day or night, they’re small, I know, but give me a fright. I’m hooked on a feeling – it’s why I’m believing that there’s a fly on me! My skin must taste like candy – they like my odor, yet they must be so thirsty for another sip of sweat. Got this fly on my arm – I tried to brush it off, but it stayed prospecting for my blood to quaff. All of these flies should leave me alone. Please make them go! Can’t they just be gone? I’m hooked on a feeling – it’s why I’m believing that there’s a fly on me! All of these flies should leave me alone. Please make them go! Can’t they just be gone? I’m hooked on a feeling – it’s why I’m believing that there’s a fly on me! I’m hooked on a feeling – it’s why I’m believing that there’s a fly on me! I said, I’m hooked on a feeling . . .
