Daniel 2:20-22 – “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.”
Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever! Why do Christians everywhere sing and say praises to God every time we get together? Here are some reasons to reflect upon.
When we praise, we give God the gift of our thanksgiving and appreciation.
When we praise, we recognize God’s power over us, over all people, and over all of creation.
When we praise, we submit ourselves to God’s rule and reign.
When we praise, we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God.
When we praise, we grow in adoration and love for God.
When we praise, we look to God for mercy and grace.
When we praise, we remember that we have received forgiveness from God.
When we praise, we get to know God better.
When we praise, we listen for God’s voice and look for God’s direction.
When we praise, we express and cultivate our desire to be closer to God.
When we praise, we seek to be more fully present with God.
When we praise, we turn our backs on evil.
When we praise, we turn towards goodness, truth, and beauty.
When we praise, we join the song of saints and angels.
When we praise, we bring glory to God.
Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever!
