With You On The Porch (thank you, Billy Joel!)
I’d love to sit with you on our porch! With lockdown restrictions beginning to ease in various places globally but the necessity for social distancing remaining for a long time to come, we all need to find new ways to be together with loved ones that doesn’t put anyone at risk of spreading / catching COVID (none of us knows who is or isn’t contagious). We are so thankful for our outdoor space and have started inviting loved ones for porch visits where we can be in physical proximity and resist the very real temptation to hug 🙂 What outdoor location is available to you for socially distanced visits (when permitted and wise in your area and context)? Let’s get creative and continue to protect our loved ones, communities, and frontline workers by staying 2m/6ft apart! (We enjoyed our Mother’s Day celebrations with all of our children and bonus children this way and shared lots of life and love and laughter while spread out outdoors in beautiful spring weather – two of them were across the seas but Skyped in!) Thank you, Billy Joel, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Just the way you are” (Billy Joel)
Words by me: Please don’t hug me to try and please me. I miss you more than ever before. Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. Don’t imagine we have arrived yet – we just don’t have a COVID cure. I would not leave you in times of trouble. We never could have come this far. Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. We’ve had some good times; we’ll take the bad times. I’ll visit with you on the porch. Don’t go trying to figure it all out. Don’t take on more than you can bear. Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. You always have my time and attention. I want you to know that I care. We don’t need clever conversation, no, our precious friendship’s like a torch. Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. We need each other, simply to talk to. I’ll visit with you on the porch. You need to know that I will always be the same old someone that you knew. Come what may, we can always listen to hear each other’s hearts, not misconstrue. I appreciate you, that’s my endeavor, and this I offer from my heart. Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. If you’d like to come sit together, I’ll visit with you on the porch. We don’t need clever conversation, no, no, no, our precious friendship’s like a torch. Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm. We need each other, simply to talk to. I’ll visit with you on the porch. Oh . . .
