Bucketful of Sunshine (thank you, Natasha Bedingfield)

What’s in your bucketful of sunshine? I discovered this song in 2017 as I searched for backing tracks for our annual Sculley family Christmas video (I seek songs from years ending in the same digit). What a fun (and repetitive) tune! It got me thinking that we each have a bucketful (not just a pocketful) of sunshine (love and good deeds) that we can share, even with appropriate social distancing. The many phrases are all posed as questions because they are suggestions we can each ponder, as we seek to do the most love and good deeds we can for the greater glory of God during this COVID-19 pandemic and beyond! Paul & I had so much fun filming this. I really enjoyed discovering the clips and graphics to convey the things on my heart that I wanted to capture in this song. Thank you, Natasha Bedingfield, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Pocketful of Sunshine” (Natasha Bedingfield)

Words by me: You’ve got a bucket, got a bucket full of sunshine. You’ve got some love, can extend it as a lifeline. Oh, oh whoa. Do what you can, but be careful not to burn out. Take a breath when you know you need to hide out. Rest, oh whoa. Who needs a friend? What can you send? Some help extend? Or microlend? Who needs some hope? Who’s out of soap? An envelope? Kaleidoscope? chorus x 2: You’ve got a bucket, got a bucket full of sunshine. You’ve got some love, can extend it as a lifeline. Oh, oh whoa. Do what you can, but be careful not to burn out. Take a breath when you know you need to hide out. Rest, oh whoa. Go for supplies? Send a surprise? Economize? Apologize? A silly song? Invite along? Make right a wrong? A dance-along? There’s a lot we can do in this hullabaloo. What joy will ensue. Find some good to do! We can open our eyes. In the darkness, be light. Oh, just humanize as we empathize! Just stay at home? Offer shalom? A palindrome? A brush or comb? Some beans or rice? A jar of spice? Some wise advice? A sacrifice? Take time to pray? Communicate? Make time to play? Enjoy each day? A funny meme? Boost self-esteem? Hand sew a seam? Muffle a scream? Tears of lament? Remote event? A compliment? Encouragement? A listening ear? Just volunteer? And be sincere? Please persevere? Don’t gotta be qualified to share the joy inside. Smile at the Lord on high. He’ll make it all all right. Don’t gotta be doey-eyed to share the hope inside. Smile at the Lord on high. He’ll make it all all right. Don’t gotta be at their side to share the love inside. Smile at the Lord on high. He’ll make it all all right.
