2004 – 05:

We went on a field trip to the Jimmy Carter Museum. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the sections on peace in the Middle East, China, nuclear weapons, and the recreated Oval Office. We strolled around the gardens afterward, too, enjoying the sanctuary in the middle of the bustling traffic.

2003 – 04:

P is studying this using Alpha Omega’s Civics elective pack. He enjoyed the first lesson thoroughly, so is quite enthusiastic about this subject . . . addendum: haven’t continued since then, due to too many other things going on. We’ll come back to this eventually.

2002 – 03:

We dabbled in this briefly this year.

We read these books:
Voting and Elections
The President’s Cabinet and How It Grew
The Election Book: People Pick a President
The Story of the Constitution
We studied a poster we have which is entitled “Elections”.
We played a game called “Hail to the Chief”.
We read part of the Constitution.
We watched these movies:
Mr Smith Goes to Washington
This is America, Charlie Brown: The Smithsonian and the Presidency
We explored the website, The White House for Kids.
