I Need a Hug! (thank you, I Prevail!)

This month’s hug song is my first foray into parodying a metalcore song, which I chose because the music expresses well the anguish, sadness, and general angst many of us feel at not being able to visit or hug loved ones (it’s been almost 2 years since we’ve been with my hubby’s dear parents in a country far away). If you’re in need of a hug today, try turning this song into a prayer, then look around to see who else you can encourage. Don’t give up – hang in there – we’re all in this together! Thank you, I Prevail, for your great music! May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Pull the Plug” (I Prevail)

Words by me: I really need a hug! Breathe in and breathe out – that’s what helps me slow down when I’m worried or down or just running around. When I’m feeling afraid, apathetic, or numb, I bring back to my mind strategies so I can thrive. I need a hug! A second or a third. My oxytocin’s low, my blood pressure’s too high. Hugs bring us together, whether as family or friends. It’s time for an embrace, a heartfelt hug. I really need a hug.   From a one-second squeeze to a side hug, it’s easy to see how hugs help us emotionally. Words don’t always suffice, so a hug can be nice to say I’m right here for you when you’re glad or you feel blue. I need a hug! A second or a third. My oxytocin’s low, my blood pressure’s too high. Hugs bring us together, whether as family or friends. It’s time for an embrace, a heartfelt hug. I really need a hug. I’ve been dreaming of our reunion. You can’t come here, I can’t visit you. Thankful for the ways we can connect, looking forward very much to togetherness. I need a hug! A second or a third. My oxytocin’s low, my blood pressure’s too high. Hugs bring us together, whether as family or friends. It’s time for an embrace, a heartfelt hug. A heartfelt hug! I really need a hug!
