Make Your Bed, Clean Your Room (thank you, A-ha / Jordan Peterson!)

The first step in changing the world may seem small and insignificant, but the key is that it starts with you and me (not someone else) changing the way we think, speak, and act. This song is inspired by Mother Teresa’s “Do small things with great love” and Jordan Peterson’s “Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world” (rule 6 from his “12 Rules for Life”)and my friend Michael G who exudes faithfulness, diligence, and humility and who starts each day by making his bed. Jordan Peterson is a Canadian professor of psychology, clinical psychologist, YouTube personality, and author, and one of my favorite living thinkers who has a lot of wisdom for our generation today. I highly recommend his books, too. This project is to put some of his wisdom into songs. Thank you, A-ha, for your great music! May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Take On Me” (A-ha)

Words by me: At work or at play, you might not know what – what to say, what to do today. Today is another day to do some small things – just be doing them with love, okay? Make your bed! Clean your room! Change the world – it starts with you! So, needless to say, it’s odds and ends. You can be stumbling along, slowly learning that every act does ripple out. Every choice you make will change the world. Make your bed, clean your room, change the world – it starts with you! Oh, things that you say can tear them down or just begin to build them up today. Through all of life, just try to remember. Don’t be shying away. Every spoken word will change the world. Make your bed, clean your room, change the world – it starts with you!
