Quarantine! (thank you, Bee Gees)

Instead of drowning in the news or getting too discouraged, get up and live, give, thank, and pray! This Bee Gees song with new lyrics is a journal of sorts of my thoughts and feelings during this season of quarantine (much of the world is in lock-down currently due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Better to reach out and Skype or WhatsApp someone than languish in the news all day. Better to yearn for God than to stay discouraged (very tempting to everyone, I think). We can always thank and pray, live and give! My oldest daughter loved listening to the original song on her record player / turntable when she was a teen – this memory has supplanted the days when her mum listened to the song on AM radio back in the ’79 and into the ’80’s. Thank you, Bee Gees, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Here’s the REMASTERED version (6 months after first release):

Music: “Tragedy” (Bee Gees)

Words by me: Here I wait, in my place of shelter that’s locked down. Feeling low, in the overwhelming news I drown. Staying home, I just can’t make it all alone. I really should be Skype-ing you (Skype-ing you), WhatsApp-ing you (WhatsApping you). Quarantine! When you can’t go out, you just want to shout, “It’s quarantine!” When you want to see friends and family, you can’t go there, no visits or travel, you’re not going out! Night and day, there’s a yearning deep inside of me. Actually, on my heart and mind so constantly. I don’t get why we’re in this trouble now, but yet, I know that I can thank and pray (thank and pray), live and give (live and give). Quarantine! When there’s hope to share with concern and care, it’s quarantine! We can look about, help our neighbors out. Can’t hug or touch but can show love so much, lots of needs still out there! Quarantine! When you just can’t cope, reach out for some hope. It’s quarantine! There are people who need some joy from you. It’s hard to be alone for a season, but keep holding on! Quarantine! When there’s hope to share with concern and care It’s quarantine! We can look about, help our neighbors out. Can’t hug or touch, but can show love so much, lots of needs still out there!
