Soon We’ll Meet (thank you, Cliff Richard)

Quarantine is dragging on . . . it’s not funny . . . my heart longs for more . . . but soon we’ll meet! My wonderful mother-in-law asked me if I was going to write one from an artist from her era. She named three artists she liked, and I went with Cliff (technically this song is from my era, too!) – as I browsed song titles, this one jumped out at me and the ideas started flowing. It helps me to pour my heart out when I’m sad. We can be honest with God, ourselves, and others about how hard this is to be apart from our loved ones. Music always seems to help, too 🙂 Thank you, Cliff Richard, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “We don’t talk anymore” (Cliff Richard)

Words by me: Quarantine’s just gone on too long. I don’t feel up to more silly songs. I can’t believe we’re still on lockdown. Used to feel on top of the world. Used to feel we could plan to meet. Never imagined how I’d feel today. Well, it seems a long time ago, we could just socialize. Staying close with social distancing just doesn’t satisfy. When can we meet again? It’s not funny how we don’t meet anymore. It’s not sunny when we don’t hug anymore. I am losing some sleep. I groan and I weep. My eyes are runny, and my heart longs for more. Ohhhh, soon we’ll meet! Ooooh, soon we’ll meet! You really matter so much to me. I’m missing your accessibility. It’s me and you now, on two little screens. Well, it seems a long time ago, we could make social plans. It seems like several lifetimes ago we were together, and planned when to meet again. It’s not funny how we don’t meet anymore. It’s not sunny when we don’t hug anymore. I am losing some sleep. I groan and I weep. Whoa, whoa, whoa. My eyes are runny, and my heart longs for more. Ohhhh, I’m longing for more! Ooooh, soon we’ll meet! I am losing some sleep. I groan and I weep. Whoa, whoa, whoa. My eyes are runny, and my heart longs for more. Ohhhh, soon we’ll meet! Ooooh, soon we’ll hug! Ahhhh, soon we’ll meet!
