Square In Your Chart (thank you, twenty one pilots!)

My earliest childhood memories include me carrying around mathematics books. I am passionate about mathematics, which is widely misunderstood 🙂 My children and the other 60+ students I’ve taught in Sculley Academy and Sculley Academy Math Club can attest to my over-enthusiasm for all things mathematical, especially the Fibonacci and other sequences. I don’t normally toss my students in the air when they get answers right, but Hugs and Moo-moo were pretty good sports about it all. These charts and the little red table were used by each of my kids when they were 4-5 years old. Great memories, good times! Thank you, twenty one pilots, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Tear in my heart” (twenty one pilots)

Words by me: Sometimes a power lets you know that numbers, too, can scale and grow, but it takes someone to come around to show you how. There’s a square in your chart – you’re alive! There’s a pair in your chart – you’re on fire! There’s a sequence in your chart – it goes higher than you’ve ever been. The counting numbers are ok, but see how recursion so relates. The repetition comes around to show you how. There’s a square in your chart – you’re alive! There’s a pair in your chart – you’re on fire! There’s a sequence in your chart – it goes higher than you’ve ever been, than you’ve ever been. x 3 Oh! Ooh! You found some recursion. You figured out those sums. Let’s do another set of problems with these axioms. You checked your answer – good! You worked that seven times. So, now let’s figure out the factors here – they are all primes. x 2 Sometimes a common ratio-o-o will make your sequence grow too slow-ow-ow, but it takes someone to come around to show you how. There’s a square in your chart – you’re alive! There’s a pair in your chart – you’re on fire! There’s a sequence in your chart – it goes higher than you’ve ever been. Your chart is a charmer. There’s a pattern in your chart – multiplier. Geometrical progression – it goes higher than you’ve ever been, than you’ve ever been. x 3 Your chart is a charmer. There’s a pattern in your chart – multiplier. Geometrical progression – it goes higher than you’ve ever been.
