Wish You Were Here! (thank you, Pink Floyd!)

Apart from just really enjoying Pink Floyd’s riffs, I decided to write new lyrics for a classic song from the perspective of older individuals who are being assailed by marketing for all the latest tech and may be flummoxed by all the jargon. Of course this is all tongue-in-cheek, as Paul & I both have computer science degrees. Even so, simplicity is good – none of us need all the latest gear. Our kids are all 20-somethings and know far about gadgets than I ever could (Paul is in a league of his own here) . . . so, for all our fellow Boomers and others – I encourage you along with myself to live simply so that others may simply live! Thank you, Pink Floyd, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Wish You Were Here” (Pink Floyd)

Words by me: So, so you think we can tell a command prompt from a shell? a block from a chain? Can we tell a green tea from a matcha latte? feelings from feels? Do you think we can tell? They tried to get us to trade our broom for a robot vac, our books for a Kindle, alarm clock for a smart watch, our tripod for a selfie stick. We didn’t want to exchange a window and a doorbell for a livestreaming Nest Hello. (instrumental) How I wish, how I wish you were here! We’re just two young boomers livin’ in a lock down week after week, reading up on the latest gear and what we’ve found. Our young gadgeteers, wish you were here!
