Art
Art is an important part of every child’s development. Virtually every day at the Sculley Academy includes drawing, coloring, creating, working on web pages, etc! We encourage the children to be creative and not just color in coloring books, though there is a lot to be learned from more experienced artists’ renditions, too!
In the past, we have used I Can Do All Things, which includes techniques for a variety of pencils, markers, and paints. Drafting is a subject that our children have enjoyed, which is really a blend between art and math. Our younger children enjoy frequent drawing, writing, and coloring at our “little red table.”
We make it a priority to enrol the children in good quality art classes, especially since Paul and I are not very experienced with art (though we do dabble in it ourselves). P, J, M, and C have enjoyed the art classes and electives at Master’s Academy. J has discovered a huge passion while taking pottery classes. P has taken pottery classes; C has taken art classes.

Here are some examples of our children’s art work.
We really enjoy reading the series on “Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Artists” by Mike Venezia. He has a way of interspersing the artists’ works with facts about the artist’s life and anecdotes from the artists’ childhoods (in cartoon form). There are many titles, and our local library has many of them.
