Where Are My Pants? (thank you, ELO / Electric Light Orchestra)

Top half’s ready . . . now, where are my pants? Totally for fun. I absolutely loved listening to ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) in my teens. It helped that ELO always included a cello, my 2nd favorite instrument (after piano, of course). It was so much fun creating the scenario in this classic song with new lyrics, filming, roping Paul into one scene, recording, and editing. The only real instrumental part I played was the piano – the others are just for fun 🙂 In all my parodies, I attempt to journal my feelings and thoughts – this isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic is so hard – I would much rather be with my family & friends (my heart aches constantly), but Skype video group chat will have to do for now (addressing tech issues is part of our daily life). Thank you, ELO / Electric Light Orchestra, for your great music. May God bless you, protect you, and give you peace!

Music: “Telephone Line” (ELO)

Words by me: Hello? What day is it? My old routine is shot, but I’m glad I’ve got a very, very, very, very fast web connection. It’s ok, but I’d rather be right by your side with a hug or a high five . . . yeah, yeah, yeah. Hey? Are you listening? The sound is breaking up, let me try again. There, that’s better, let’s start our meeting in ten. Give me a little time. I just need to find a piece of paper and a pen . . . yeah, yeah, yeah oooh . . . and my blue jeans or black shorts. I found my pink rose PJ bottoms, of course. I tried to get all dressed today. I guess pajama shorts will be ok. This social distancing is keeping me so very far away from you. And I wonder why the isolation’s got me far away from my . . . oh, oh, where are my pants? I just did the wash, and I can’t find them. Oh, oh, where are my pants? Is this really a dream? I thought that I woke up! Okay, it’s now time to Skype. I’ll talk and I’ll type and I’ll hope that no one, no one, no one, no one, no one will even notice. I should brush my hair, straighten up my shirt, get all ready for our meet- -ing . . . oooh. Blue jeans, black shorts, I did my wash (forgot to fold, of course). I think my top half is pretty good. I would have put my pants on, I really would! They’ll only see my face, it will be okay. They’ll never never know I’m not all dressed. Camera on, angle up. And now all I need is just my coffee cup. And, oh, where are my pants? I’ve lost them again. I wish I could find them! Oh, oh, where are my pants? Mute the mic now to cough, oops I just knocked it off. Uh, oh, now my secret is out, can there be any doubt? I just need to leave now!
