Creative Writing
This is really really out of date, but here’s what I wrote about a couple of years ago. We use Writing Strands for the older kids, once they get around middle school age.
We do creative writing 2 or 3 times a week at the Sculley Academy. What we do includes:
Writing Strands – many levels
daily journal — each child records whatever thoughts, feelings, or happenings they’d like. I know they will always treasure these 🙂
Any Child Can Write This is a serious-toned book with lots of starting points.
If You’re Trying to Teach Kids How to Write, You’ve Got to Have This Book This is a fun, easy-to-read book with many creative ideas.
Writing to Inform, Writing to Explain, and Writing to Persuade
